  • Interview your parents and complete the home management assignment (page 2) home management ), interactively read pages 1&3 and turn in a copy of your joint budget that we started in class
  • INote: You should start keeping track of your finances (#6). Each couple must keep a two week budget in a journal. The budget will be collected on 5/21. The journal should have the following: a. A statement of your net worth b. List of how much you spent c. An evaluation of how you will pay for this over the course of the next year d. A stated plan for saving money e. A stated plan on what credit card you plan to open and why that particular card is useful. It will be due on 5/21)

  • With you partner find and print out a specific credit card deal and write on paragraph on why it is the best choice for you.
  • By the end of the year it would be beneficial to make sure you have plans for a credit card and active control of a bank account. Talk to your parents about this. Also, you need to track your spending for the two weeks.
  • Reminder that your couples budget and student budget are due on Monday. Go to the website and use the downloadable worksheet. Use this opportunity to talk to your parents about your college funding.

  • Prep for mural or regular final. I will label your groups slot on Monday morning. Bring equipment - Suggestions: Thoroughly wash your wall then primer it. Bring sponges, newspapers or drop cloths, and pencils/sharpies to do your design before you paint it. Get some extra bright colors of paint from (Acrylic Outdoor Paint from Kelly Moore is especially good)

    2. I think I need a credit card for emergencies and to start building up a credit rating. I am concerned about the pitfalls of debt. Do you have advice and can you help me get a credit card? Can we schedule a time now to work on an application? The card I'm interested in getting is the ____________card.
    3. How do I start saving for a house?
    4. How/when do I start saving for retirement? -Mr. Davey suggests I get a Roth IRA but I also want money for college. If I work this summer and put money into a Roth IRA will you give me back some of this money to use for college expenditures?
