This unit will outline the basic concepts of economics. You will learn about the different types of markets, as well as understand basic economics terms.
In this unit, you'll learn about the two fundamental economic concepts of supply and demand and how they are the root of economics.
In this unit, you'll learn about the way businesses run the economy. You'll learn about the different types of business strategies, such as monopolies, oligopolies, and duopolies. This unit will focus on the relationship between business and their workforce. We will discuss the types of corporations, value of businesses to the economy, the stock market and ways to raise money, the relationship between productivity and wages and the rising inequality in the nation.
You also learn about other economic terms such as inflation, unemployment, and economic growth and decline. You'll also study the wealth gap between the rich and poor.
This unit will continue to focus on macroeconomics, but also introduce the concept of the federal reserve and federal banking. You'll learn about the US banking system, and build off concepts taught to you about the Bank of the United States in US History. You'll also learn about fiscal policy, and debate some important issues on these topics.
This final section of the MAP 12 Social Studies curriculum will teach you about important skills to take to college. You'll learn about the importance of getting and maintaining credit fraud, identity theft, and how to balance your finances throughout life.
